“It’s a run specialty store which just means that we carry all of the top products in running and athletic walking,” explains Mark Lipinsky, manager and longtime employee.

“We primarily focus on custom fit. Getting the right shoe, the right fit, for the right person,” says Steve Hixson, owner of Second Sole.

“Just stop in. Don’t feel intimidated. We treat everyone the same.”

Hixson also points out that Second Sole is a store for everyone. They work with customers that are preparing for marathons, or customers that simply want comfortable shoes to walk around the block in.

“Just stop in. Don’t feel intimidated,” Hixson says. “Whether you’re out for a one mile walk or you’re running a ten miler, there’s no difference. We treat everyone the same.”

The level of knowledge and support you receive at Second Sole is what Mark Lipinsky sees as their best asset.

“The biggest thing that you can find at Second Sole that you can’t get anywhere else,” says Lipinsky, “is a professional staff, that knows how to fit a customer for the right size, and the right amount of support, or cushion, for your specific needs. Everyone’s feet is kind of like your thumb print. And our staff is here to make sure that you have the right fit, and the right support, and the right cushion, so that you have the right shoes on your feet to do whatever it is that you love to do.”
