Rhine Haus Bier Hall is Downtown Youngstown’s newest restaurant, an Oktoberfest-inspired German beer hall.

CEO of Justice League Restaurant Group, Christian Rinehart, shared his inspiration for bringing a concept like this to Youngstown.

Where did the idea for Rhine Haus Bier Hall come from?

Truthfully it’s a big part of my childhood. My dad passed away when I was 13, so I really enjoyed going to the Oktoberfest with my dad every summer. I had lederhosen since the age of 3 and I wanted to bring that culture here. So now we have Rhine Haus, it’s named after my family. Rinehart means heart of the rhine, so Rhine Haus is heart of Germany beer hall.

What kind of experience do you want to create for your customers?

It’s a fun, family-friendly party just like you’d get at an Oktoberfest in Germany. When you come here it’s one of the best places to have a birthday party, it’s one of the best places to have a night out with your friends. We’ve got liters of beer, great German shareable food and polka. There’s nothing about here that is stodgy.

How did you come up with the menu?

Our chef, his parents were in the military, so he lived in Germany. Everything here is hearty, good tasting, made from scratch. We have all the German delicacies. It’s fun and food.
