The Ultimate Guide to Elm Street in Youngstown
One of Youngstown’s best kept secrets is definitely Elm Street on the north side of YSU’s campus. Elm has a fast-growing collection of businesses that share sustainability goals and a focus on revitalizing the community. Its a great up-and-coming part of the city that offers a variety of shops and food options for you to enjoy which is why we put together this Ultimate Guide to Elm Street.
If you’re coming from campus, as you walk past Cafaro House towards Wick Park the first business you’ll come across is….
Culturehouse Coffee Company
Looking for an amazing cup of coffee? Stop by Culturehouse for fantastic drinks, made from in-house roasted coffee beans, in a bright, colorful atmosphere. Learn more about Culturehouse in this feature we filmed recently.
Cultivate Café
A fast-casual restaurant that doubles as a farmer’s market! Great for a quick bite to eat or a place to pick up some fresh local produce or locally made goods. Most, if not all, of the food is provided by local farmers and prepared in the Common Wealth Kitchen Incubator next door.
Elm Street Diner
Looking for some comfort food in a warm environment? Make your way over to the Elm Street Diner. They serve dinner and breakfast items, as well as 10 different kinds of macaroni & cheese which are all insanely good.
Her Primitive Ways Red Road Apothecary
The place to go if you’re looking for spiritual advice and self-care remedies, Her Primitive Ways offers botanical self-care products, spices, blended teas, candles, incense, tarot readings and spiritual services.
Mel’s Habitat
The place to go to shop vintage and find something that brings a little joy into your life is Mel’s Habitat. This re-sale shop offers vintage clothing, art, records, and random trinkets to make you smile. Or as they put it, it’s “a little shop full of things you want.” Check out our feature on Mel’s Habitat from last week.
Edward’s Flowers
If you’re in the market for a beautifully arranged floral gift this is the place you want to go. They’ve been in business since 1947, meaning they’ve been able to weather all of Youngstown’s ups and downs, by offering great service and truly caring about their customers.
Wick Park
Just past all the businesses on Elm Street you’ll find an entrance to Wick Park. Historically this was the centerpiece of Youngstown’s wealthiest district and today is still a wonderful park to go for a jog, play a game of disc golf or throw a party.
We hope you enjoyed our Ultimate Guide to Elm Street! Now that we’ve shown you around the city, stay tuned tomorrow to learn about some upcoming events that you won’t want to miss out on.
