Meet Mahoning River Adventures! Owned by Moneen and Brad McBride, Mahoning River Adventures offers kayak rentals and self-guided trips down the Mahoning River out of Canoe City Metro Park in Leavittsburgh, Ohio. Moneen and Brad established Mahoning River Adventures to share their love for the great outdoors and to help people appreciate the Mahoning River (which we love). “It’s an amazing feeling to be out [on the river]” said Moneen, and it is incredible that they can offer this experience on a great river so close to Warren, Youngstown, and all of our local communities.

If you still have a negative view of the Mahoning River, one of their kayak trips is sure to change that. The river is teeming with wildlife and you might even be able to see one of the area’s bald eagles! The quality of the river is continuing to improve as the industrial sections are getting touched up and the dams are getting removed, but the Mahoning River is no longer the river you thought it was.

If you’ve never booked a river excursion before, here’s how it works:

Arrive at Canoe City Metropark 15 minutes before your trip is scheduled to start. You’ll leave your car here and return to it via kayak.

A shuttle will take you up river to a launch point.

At that point you’ll enter the river and kayak back to Canoe City Metropark where your car is parked!
